This week has gone well, from a calorie consumption point of view. However, I’ve been replacing packs with salads and tomorrow I will know if it’s made much of a difference. However, my headspace has changed. Apart from the December break, I’ve been doing the Cambridge Diet since early October and I’ve lost nearly 2 stone. I’ve still got a way to go, but I know from past experience, that weight loss isn’t just about what’s on the scales.
I remember a few years back my family being concerned that I’d lost too much weight. I’d been focussing on cardio and wasn’t building any lean muscle – and with the calorie deficit, It fell off me – and yet, I STILL had a little pot belly that I couldn’t get rid of.
And so, I’m going to go against everything that I’ve said – and I’m going to get back to the gym and start working out with a focus on free weights and all over body conditioning. I still need to make sure that I consume a calorie deficit as I need to burn fat – So now I’m all about getting as much advice from people as possible about nutrition, training tips and frequency. It’s been a good while since I’ve been to a gym and whereas I am looking forward to it, I’m really nervous about now knowing what exercises to do and how to do them.
I’m not interesting in CrossFit, as it costs about £60 to join one of those gyms – I am interested in following a Paleo regime as it seems to be really effective when combined with training.
The comfort of being on something like the Cambridge Weight Plan is that everything is spoon fed to you – eat 3 packs a day, drink lots of water.. it’s right there, all it takes is will power. But you can’t train on it and any excessive exercise can leave you feeling lethargic and since I’ve been walking everywhere, I’m simply unable to focus.
So here I am. Ready for stage 2.
